Silver Springs International Film Festival - History and Celebration

The Silver Springs International Film Festival was initiated last year to promote creative and cultural discovery through the medium of motion pictures. Haiku: Simple and Beautiful Japanese Poetry

What better way to celebrate Bonsai week than a workshop about Haiku – one of the simplest and most important from of traditional Japanese poetry. Come learn and practice creating or just sharing a favorite Haiku poem. Paper and pens will be provided or bring your tablet or pc. No experience needed.

The Thoroughbreds of Marion County: An Overview

A short drive from home in any direction will take you past lush horse farms. No wonder that Ocala is called "The Horse Capital of the World." In this introductory class you'll learn the basics from breeding to the starting gate. This two-meeting course will be divided into classroom time and a field trip. Each class has a related field trip the same month to the Ocala Breeder's Sale. (Many of these equine athletes will fetch upwards of $100,000!) You are living in horse country, and this is a great primer on the Sport of Kings .... and Queens!

This new financing program allows approved participants to make certain energy efficient and storm safety improvements to their homes and finance the purchase through their property taxes. The financing is available for 100% of the improvement cost with no credit score requirements. The assessment is collected with your annual property taxes and is available to all property owners, even those with multiple houses, rental properties, and even commercial property.

Terminally ill, mentally competent adults have choices about end of life care, such as voluntary stopping of eating and drinking, refusing unwanted medical treatment, or discontinuing life-sustaining treatment. End of Life counselors can help people to understand the choices available and what is needed to make their choices a reality.

R&L Carriers is one of the largest most respected freight shipping companies in the United States and is a major player in cargo delivery. The office is located at the previous home of Taylor Bean and Whitaker. This ornate building still holds the artwork and flashy decorations that defined the now failed mortgage lending building. In many ways, this education session will be juxtaposition between the failed economics of the mortgage industry in 2008 and the renewal of the great American success story in R&L Carriers.
