Master the Possibilities Education Center strives to be on the cutting edge of life-long learning and assuch is a focal point of our active community. Located in the new Circle Square Commons Town Center, our exciting educational programs provide hundreds of opportunities throughout the year to learn and grow. Our outstanding faculty is involved in designing classes that build on our active adults' knowledge and experiences and stimulate and challenge them to become more engaged in education.

NEW CLASSES

Be sure to take advantage of our Take Charge of Your Type-2 Diabetes Program that begins Tuesday, September 9th at 1:00pm. The University of Florida/IFAS Extension in Marion County is offering an educational program to help adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood glucose to feel better and reduce risk of health complications. The program will include ten classes taught by a team of qualified educators and health professionals. Class topics will include information on the types of diabetes, blood glucose monitoring, standards of medical care, medications, cardiovascular disease, nutrition management, carbohydrate counting, physical activity, sick day management, and foot care. Three health assessments (weight and blood pressure measurements) are included. The $45 program fee includes the educational classes, program materials and health assessments. Support person is free. Deadline for paid registration is Thursday, September 4, 2014, checks are made payable to Marion County Extension Advisory Committee.

A 1997 Italian comedy-drama film directed by and starring Roberto Benigni. Benigni plays Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian book shop owner, who must employ his fertile imagination to shield his son from the horrors of internment in a Nazi concentration camp. Part of the film came from Benigni's own family history; before Roberto's birth, his father had survived three years of internment at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The film was a critical and financial success, winning Benigni the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 71st Academy Awards as well as the Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

As the winner of France`s prestigious César Award for Best Film in 2009, Séraphine is a film to be reckoned with. Séraphine Louis is a humble, poorly educated housekeeper who loves nature and art. Nature inspires her to create, to paint. Her paintings are her own personal treasures until she comes to meet Uhde, a noted German art critic who takes a liking to her work and insists that it shows great promise. Separated by the war of 1914, Uhde returns to France in 1927 and once again promotes Seraphine`s art work. She becomes a successful artist but her success is short lived when the great depression puts an end to her financial well-being. She goes off the deep end but Uhde rescues her in a fashion and once again she comes to enjoy the beauties that nature offers.
